A dedicated martial artist and athlete, Brian Giraldo has trained in Boxing, Muy Thai, Brazilian Ju Jitsu (BJJ), and other disciplines for over 20 years of combined experience. Originally, Brian pursued a professional MMA fighting career, accumulating a 14-1 record and earning a BJJ Brown Belt under Karl Pravec, an instructor from the lineage of legendary master, Renzo Gracie. However, his fighting career was ended by a catastrophic hip injury that required multiple surgeries to recover from.
Despite this setback, Brian was inspired to take his experience and passion for martial arts and fitness to train others to achieve their own goals. His first “gym” started in a backyard with traditional equipment he’d used himself to prepare for competition- sledgehammers, tires, and ropes. Nine years later, the gym is now a 2,600 sq ft facility to accommodate an increasing number of members and is equipped with state-of-the-art fitness equipment.
What started as a way to stay involved and remain in shape by training others, evolved into a unique program that leveraged practical combat-focused HIIT training. Brian realized that martial arts, combined with high-intensity interval training offered a truly full-scale regimen that not only provides practical skill sets, fun enrichment, and fitness but also mental fortitude.
Typically, MMA/boxing gyms only teach fighting while HIIT exclusive gyms do not offer MMA classes. Raw Fitness combines both of these components. Using martial arts as a base, Raw Fitness incorporates a HIIT routine to target fat loss and build strength and endurance. We are focused on helping each individual attain measurable results in their fitness journey, whether it be to compete, lose weight, get stronger, or boost physicality. To do this, Raw Fitness is staffed by licensed personal trainers who will not only train you to master martial arts techniques but also work with you to achieve your other physical goals in the process.
Combined with nutritional guidance and tailored training, many of our gym members see a major physical transformation within the first three weeks of classes. And this is not just in physicality but in confidence and mental sharpness.
